MARINE BIOACOUSTICS

• – Learning about the ocean by listening to it: gathering bio data via passive acoustic monitoring, which is innovative in that it gathers data without interfering with the life of an organism
• – Initiating passive acoustic monitoring of the Meso-American Reef
• – Creating The Listener Project: underwater sculpture installation combining art, science, and conservation to record the birth of a new reef

OCEAN ENERGY

• – Collaborating with U.S. Department of Energy to create new programs to develop renewable marine energy sources that can power ocean research devices
• – Advising on concerns over noise generated by energy installations in the ocean
• – Co-chairing ocean noise and marine life inter-agency task force

MUSIC AND COMPOSING

• – Composing, performing, recording, and publishing original works for acoustic and electronic instruments and recorded soundscapes
• – Performing world music on cello, internationally
• – Analyzing soundscapes through musical techniques

ENGAGEMENT

• – Organizing, curating, coaching, and moderating conference and event panel presentations
• – Public speaking and media interviews in English and Spanish
• – Creation of outreach materials and curriculum development for kids through adults
